Timna Park

 Timna Park, located 25 km north of Eilat, covers an area of ​​about 60 square kilometers and displays to its visitors layers of rock from different geological periods throughout history.

The new Visitor Center, built at the entrance to the park, tells the story of the Egyptian copper miners and their way of life, mining methods of both past and present, a multimedia presentation telling the story of copper and the geological history of Timna and an exhibition of mining tools found in the archaeological excavations at the site.

Timna Park offers over 25 trails suitable for families, hiking enthusiasts, cyclists and backpackers. Famous sites in the Park include, “The Mushroom”, “The Arches”, “Solomon’s Pillars”, “Temple of Hathor”, “Canyon of Faces”, the Copper Mines, the Timna Singular Trail amongst others.

Near the lake, you can visit one of Israel’s most exclusive sites, the Tabernacle Tent. An accurate and authentic life-size replica of the biblical tabernacle, used by the Israelites in the years they wandered through the desert, according to how it is described in the Bible. The visit is by appointment and entails a fee.

Sunset and Night Tours – During the summer the Park offers sunset and night tours on the “Copper and Light Trail”. A guided tour of the park’s sights illuminated by silhouettes on t mountains.

Additional Park Activities include pedal boats on the lake, filling small bottles with  colored sand, copper coin minting and mountain bike rentals. Enjoy a selection of traditional and delicious dishes served at King Solomon’s Khan Restaurant or camp out at our camping site or Villa Camp campground.
